It is almost the end of Hibernation Day, a holiday of the last day before a long winter slumber. However, the celebration isn’t going well and everybody’s on edge. Your cool older sister isn’t happy to be stuck at home, your silly younger brother is nowhere to be found and the parents are fighting (as they often do). Help your family get along and find peace on the last day before winter hibernation.

The Basics
Let’s get down to the basics. Hibernation Day is a short visual novel with a family-focused storyline and wholesome visuals. It’s about family and the problems we face trying to keep it afloat. The story isn’t completely linear so there are a few endings to see, making for a 30-minute experience.
Hibernation Day was made by a small development team, Ariorick, and you can feel the heart in it. The art drew me into the game initially, but the writing made it memorable. The dialogue captures the slightly dysfunctional family dynamic that emerges when you’ve spent just a little too much time with your family.

Why Should I Play?
Hibernation Day is for you if you want a game to warm your heart through the cold winter nights. The music for this game is cozy and relaxing, it begs to be paired with a warm cup of cocoa. This is a great short game to fit between longer games or on busy holiday nights.
