Greetings, friends, and welcome everyone to Mobile Game Monday, where we chat about games you can play on the go. If you like to game on a phone or tablet, this is the place for you. Join us every week as we go on all sorts of adventures.

Cookie Run: Kingdom

Cookie Run: Kingdom is a free-to-play battle gacha game and city-building simulator developed by Devsisters and released in 2021. Collect cookies to build teams of five to fight your way through various game modes. You will use these teams of cookies to explore the various worlds of the Cookie Kingdom, each with its unique storyline.

Build the strongest team you can muster to take on other players in the Arena. Each arena season offers amazing rewards if you can reach a high enough tier. If you are more of a team player, join a guild and fight on behalf of your allies.

The Tower of Sweet Chaos offers one relentless wave of enemies after another. Defeat them all for some pretty sweet rewards. There are some rascally villains in the kingdom, and they must be brought to justice. Complete their bounties for precious leveling resources. Visit the Tropical Soda Islands and liberate the natives from their coconut overlords in exchange for goodies. There are so many game modes in Cookie Run: Kingdom that there is always something to do.

Cookies

Collecting all of the adorable cookies is the bread and butter of this game. There are 117 playable cookies, so grabbing them may take a while. Each cookie has its own class and special abilities, so build your teams wisely. The classes include charge, defense, magic, ambush, bomber, support and healing. The winning combination depends on which cookies you are using, what mode you are playing and which cookies you are going up against.

Didn’t quite make it through that last round? Try a different combination of cookies, and you might have better luck. There is no single team that will get you through every game mode, so you have to mix things up a bit occasionally.

Building Your Kingdom

The cookie kingdom isn’t going to rebuild itself, so it is all up to you. Don’t worry; cute little sugar gnomes will help you build along the way. The first and most basic buildings are the cookie houses, which will produce jellies that allow you to level your cookies over time. Leveling your cookies is crucial to progressing in the game, so focus on these first.

Buildings like the lumber mill or sugar quarry will give you the basic materials needed to build more complicated items in the game. Landmarks are buildings that give your cookies a bonus, like extra health or damage boost. These boons can stack, so collect and level these buildings as quickly as possible.

Did I mention that each building is more adorable than the last? Besides the buildings you must have to play the game, there are endless decorations to make the kingdom your very own. Building and decorating your kingdom is important because it makes your cookies stronger. The cookies you have collected work at the buildings you have built, so it is fun to watch them do their thing.

Event and Collaborations

There is always some event going on in Cookie Run: Kingdom. Every season brings a new event, a heartwarming story and adorable cookies to go with it. The Kingdom Pass will give you even more monthly rewards if you are willing to spend a little dough. The best events are the collaborations; they have had some good ones. When I started playing, they were doing a Sonic the Hedgehog crossover, and I managed to grab a Sonic Cookie.

Next was the Disney collaboration, with endless grinding to collect cookie versions of your favorite Disney characters. I had the most fun playing the BTS crossover, which included some fun rhythm games you could play as your favorite BTS band member. I am always excited to hear about the newest Cookie Run: Kingdom crossover.

Our Adventure Ends Here

Cookie Run: Kingdom has so much to offer, whether collecting an endless list of cookies or playing the many game modes. The game is very well made, and the art style is adorable. The developers are constantly adding new things to keep the game interesting. I have been playing the game since release, and though I will sometimes take a break, I always come back to see what is new.

Even though it is a gacha game, enjoying Cookie Run: Kingdom is possible without breaking the bank. There is still so much to this game, but I will leave some of the exploration to you. With such a variety of things to do, there is something for everyone here, so give it a try. If you check out the gacha now, they are featuring winter cookies. Just a warning: this game may trigger an uncontrollable craving for delicious cookies!

Cookie Run: Kingdom is free in the Google Play Store and App Store.
